The challenge
NBB Recycling wanted to eliminate manual driver registration while maintaining compatibility with its existing weighbridge infrastructure. The biggest challenge was integrating live vehicle weights from the weighbridge and automatically identifying arriving trucks using an ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) system.
The solution also had to support a simple self-service workflow where drivers could independently complete deliveries or collections without assistance from office staff.
What we built
We developed a custom Digital Driver & Weighbridge Terminal that guides drivers through the entire weighing process using an intuitive touchscreen interface.
When a truck arrives, the terminal automatically receives the current vehicle weight from the weighbridge and retrieves the license plate from the ANPR camera system. The driver then selects whether the vehicle is loading or unloading, chooses the required customer and material information, reviews the transaction, and prints the delivery document directly from the terminal.
The platform includes:
Live weighbridge integration for automatic weight capture
Automatic license plate recognition (ANPR) integration
Touchscreen self-service workflow
Loading and unloading process management
Customer and material selection
Automatic delivery note printing
Real-time database synchronization
Administrative management interface
Technology
Python • Industrial Hardware Integration • Weighbridge Integration • ANPR • Touchscreen UI • Thermal Printing • SQLite/MySQL
The results
The new terminal significantly reduced manual work at the weighbridge by allowing drivers to complete the registration process independently. Automatic weight capture and license plate recognition eliminated repetitive data entry, reduced processing time, and improved data accuracy.
The solution provides a faster, more reliable workflow while allowing office staff to focus on operational tasks instead of manual driver registration.
